Hooker speak

Hookers are a very important part of crochet; you can’t work without them. There are many varieties of hooks, a.k.a. hookers, and they each have their pros and cons. Everyone seems to have a preference to which hooks they prefer: bamboo, acrylic, metal, ergonomic, etc. Personally I prefer the Clover Soft Touch crochet hooks because they feel the best to me and are easy for me to handle. Much like writing with the wrong kind of pen for your hand will cause cramps and eventually carpal tunnel syndrome, using crochet hooks that aren’t comfortable in your hands can cause pain and discomfort. There are even grips that can be added to hooks that can make them more comfortable and I’ve even seen pencil grips added.

These are my favorite hooks, Clover Soft Touch. They came in this pretty pink velcro close pouch. Notice some of them are missing because they are being used.
