Barefoot Moscato

There are different levels of wine on both the white and red side as far as sweetness and dryness goes. It takes a while to build up ones palette to be able to handle the drier wines, but when you get to that point it is often hard to drink the sweeter wines. Those who have not worked on their wine palette tend to prefer the sweeter wines as the dry ones are a bit harsh for them.

Of the lower “value” wines to choose from, Barefoot wine has been winning quite a few awards lately. The bottle I have in my fridge right now boasts Barefoot to be the most awarded wine brand for “consistent quality, proven value” and I’m fairly certain that is of the U.S. made brands. One of the sweeter wines on the white wine spectrum is Moscato wine is one of the more popular. I can say that it is not dry at all but it is a little too sweet for me. My non-wine drinking friends tend to like it though, and I imagine if you are not a fan of dry wines it can be preferable to drier wines. I am thinking of giving Barefoot’s Crisp White wine a try, it just sounds good.

It’s been a few weeks since I talked wine. Allow me to educate your taste buds in one hundred and fifty words or less. The red wine Sangria produced my Slices Sangria out of Spain is an absolutely sweet and heavenly wine that isn’t dry at all. I haven’t shared it with a single person that hasn’t appreciated its flavor much as I do, well maybe I like it a little more. It is a wonderful end-of-a-bad-day wine. It is infused with citrus fruits and, might I add, it goes perfectly with a bar of Dove dark chocolate. Like I said, end of a bad day. And hey, both red wine and dark chocolate are supposed to be good for you right? Everything in moderation. Go get some and give it a try. I promise you will thank me.

Valentine wine

In the spirit of Valentine’s Day I would like to submit to you a review of one of my absolute favorite wines. This wine isn’t very sweet but it is not too dry either. My best friend isn’t a wine drinker and she didn’t really like it, but I am a wine drinker and I love it. It goes great with cheese or a good dark chocolate. Beringer white zinfandel is one of the best ones on the market if you ask me. This is a good not too sweet white wine that would be a nice addition to anyone’s Valentine date. It also makes a very delicious finish to a nice sushi dinner as well.

Red Crush

I have been working for about six to eight months on finding a good wine and trying to develop my palate. I don’t like really sweet wines nor do I prefer a dry wine. I like them somewhere in between. One thing I do recommend when drinking wine is to take some sort of NSAID such as ibuprofen before you start. Even if you are only going to have a single glass the possibility of developing a headaches is pretty high. I generally end up with one any time from drinking the wine to the next morning. I’ve read that a high percentage of people have an allergy to sulfur and sulfur is used during the filtration process, especially with red wines. This is what causes the headaches most of the time. Mine tend to feel like awful sinus headaches.
With that being said I did try out a new bottle of red this his weekend. It isn’t a new product, just new to me. The one I chose was Red Crush made by The Dreaming Tree. This is a red wine blend. I will start by saying it is not for someone that doesn’t drink or like wine; it isn’t sweet, though it is considered to be on the sweeter end of the red wine spectrum. This wine was okay, I mainly chose it because I wanted something new and it is popular at our local liquor store. It would go well with a meal, I enjoyed it more while at least nibbling on something rather than relaxing with a glass.
I would recommend this wine to someone who already enjoys a good glass of wine.

I’ve always wanted to start a blog and now I am imparting on that journey at last. I have many loves in my life and two of my regular indulgences are wine and crochet. As a mom, a wife, and a college student I have a stressful life by nature. I am a tightly wound person and everything I do in my life is generally trying to relax. Wine is a lovely way to kick back and do just that. Crocheting puts me in a very zin like place. I want to share my knowledge of these two great things so that maybe someone out there can get as much joy from them as I do.
